Clean water is one of the most precious yet difficult to find resources around Africa. Over 2.5 billion people do not have access to clean water and every minute, a child dies from a water-related disease. 🚰 Embrace Relief builds water wells in countries throughout Africa such as Chad, Cameroon, Nigeria, Kenya, and more. The land where these wells are built is surveyed to determine how deep the wells should be dug in order to ensure a clean, filtered, and reliable source of water. Water-borne diseases are one of the leading causes of illness, disease, and death in underdeveloped countries. Building water wells in these communities increase education and school attendance, benefits the economy, agricultural efforts, and health of the community. Embrace Relief’s partners conduct yearly assessments of the wells to ensure they are working properly and still producing clean and safe water. If a problem is found with one of our wells, our partners fix them at no extra cost for 5 years. After 5 years, our partners teach members of the community how to care for and fix the well so they can maintain the water well themselves for years to come. Our Impact Since 2013, we have built 610 wells serving more than 610,000 people, and the number continues to rise. All of our water wells are still 100% flowing with clean water! We have seen small villages grow to be thriving communities due to people focusing their energy on building the community rather than walking up to 3 hours per day to find water.
