GACI Global is…circulating hope.❤️ Generalized Arterial Calcification of Infancy (GACI) is a rare genetic disorder that affects the circulatory system in addition to other body systems. GACI affects males and females equally and occurs in populations all across the world. Individuals with GACI can exhibit a variety of medical features including respiratory distress, arterial calcification, gastrointestinal issues, joint calcification, high blood pressure, stroke, and heart failure. 50% of babies born with GACI do not survive. There is currently no approved treatment for GACI. The 50% of patients that do survive face lifelong chronic complications of the disease including hearing loss, eye, skin & dental problems, chronic pain, fatigue, and a rare form of rickets called Autosomal Recessive Hypophosphatemic Rickets Type 2 (ARHR2). ARHR2 causes bone pain, bone deformity, short stature and patients need to take medication up to 5 times a day. This medication can cause kidney damage.
